You might refrain from carbs, but your pet cat might not agree! Yes, you read that correctly. Researchers at Oregon State University have recently discovered that unlike humans, cats tend to go for carbs. On the other hand, dogs prefer to have food that is rich in fats. They carried out the study on 17 healthy adult dogs and 27 healthy adult cats, spanning for about 28 days. The types of diet provided were of four types \u2013 high-fat, high-carbohydrate, high-protein and balanced diet. The objective of this study was to find out if the animals selected that nutrient-rich food, which their body was deficient in. From the studies, they saw that unless provided by a balanced diet, the animals selected different types of food. While the dogs chose high-fat containing food, the cats chose food that was rich in carbohydrates. Even after changing the containers regularly, the dogs on average had 41% carbs and 36% proteins. On the other hand, the cats chose to have 43% carbs and 31% proteins out of the diets provided.<\/p>\n
