Earlier, it was believed that fibroblasts present in the skin get stained and that is how the tattoo becomes visible. But these researchers have discovered that macrophages engulf the pigment in tattoos. When these macrophages die, they release the pigment to the newly-formed monocytes nearby. Stay assured!
